After a lengthy career in global and multinational blue chip companies like Shell, ICI, National Foods, Goodman Fielder, Transfield and the Leighton Group, Sydney-based Stephan Sasse has been consulting to a range of organisations in both the private and public sectors since 2011.
The projects Stephen has worked on highlight his breadth of experience, including a number of turnarounds and restructures; due diligence completions and investment cases; labour productivity and industrial relations improvement projects (surface and underground mining, construction, manufacturing, services) for both permanent and contingent workforces; the development of workplace health and safety governance and due diligence frameworks; and the development of construction procurement models for State Governments.
Stephen works on complex IR and related business matters, including negotiations and collective agreements, labour productivity, health and safety, and workforce flexibility and efficiency projects. He has developed models for organisational output gains using a variable mix of permanent and contingent staffing.
Highlights of Stephen’s industrial relations achievements include:
- Development and implementation of construction procurement frameworks delivering significant increases in labour productivity;
- The development and implementation of independent contracting deployment models in construction, mining and hospitality;
- The development and implementation of the EastLink IR strategy – the only major infrastructure project in Victoria ever to have been completed ahead of time and budget, and establishing as yet unbeaten labour productivity performance;
- The removal of the entrenched demarcation between the paint industry’s dominant unions, resulting in a dramatic increase in labour productivity.
